Tools That Are Poorly Designed

Tools can't Design, You Do!

Pick any tool for designing but your design defines you, not the tool.

Did you think using the best tool is important? Yes, it is important because it may have better features, better usability, easy to understand and implement and maybe have better accessibility.

But using the best tool can always guarantee the perfect design? No, the answer is simple. Tools can't decide what is the perfect design.

Tools provide a variety of different features which we use to design. And every design tool is just the same bunch of basic features but with different experience.

Let's see which tool is best:

But I wanted to test out which tool is best for designing. So I decided to design a simple poster with different design tools.

Adobe XD

I design a simple poster on adobe XD about my bio on medium. The outcome was nice. I am happy with the design.

Now I decided to create a design on a different design tool.

Figma

Figma is a very popular design tool and I design the poster with a similar concept. And guess what?

Figma also gave me a great outcome. Oh wait, it's the same result.

Even Paint…

Wow! we can make great designs in paint as well. Didn't expect that. I think Paint is many of us first design tool. I remember I design the hut so bad in childhood. I will try to make some more designs.

So which tool makes the best design

None because I designed the poster, not the tool. Design is the decisions we made on the elements those tools provide.

If we need to create a perfect design then we need to know the fundamentals of tool elements.

To make good design know these tool elements

In the era of the digital world, any design we see, amazing or not so good are consists of these elements.

Text

Text or typography should guide and inform your users, optimize readability and accessibility, and ensure an excellent user experience.

Compelling typography is key to a great UI design. And that's a primary reason why every designer should master typography.

Colors and Contrasts

Color is the easiest and most important aspect of engaging the user with the product in Design. Color choice matters. Each one invokes some particular visual or emotion in those who see it. You can use that in design.

They can attract users, and they can better communicate your message. Any UI Design guidelines are likely to mention colors prominently.

Shapes

The shapes in your design may be sending a message to users that you aren't even familiar with. Whether you put an image inside a square or circle or triangle can have an impact on what people think about that UI, illustration or logo.

Images

The aim of imagery and illustrations is a powerful visual tool that precedes the digital age and there's a motive it's always been that way.

Patterns or Icons

UI design patterns also provide a common language for designers, which keeps misconceptions to a minimum, and establishes consistency when multiple designers are working on the same project.

Icons are a crucial part of our day to day lives. Look over and you'll see just as much text instructing you as you do iconography. It's such an important part of our world that even films build out believable icon systems.

In the end!

No matter what design tool you use, just know the basic elements of tools and the fundamentals of UI design.
